Well are you evolving, growing in knowledge, wisdom and spirit? Or are you going around in circles, as if walking around the relentless, revolving doors of a hotel entrance ( not very classy) or such like in your own life?
If the latter sounds like you, you are most likely disillusioned, uninspired, exhausted, frustrated and angry. If you are amongst the former, you are moving through each day with a witnessing approach, noticing your interpretations of situations and how you can improve upon them, observing your responses to challenges and ideas and you are more than likely cheerful, enthusiastic and a pleasure to be around.
“It is never too late to be what you might have been.”
― George Elliot
As said so beautifully by George Elliot who incidentally was a woman, Mary Ann Evans, an English poet and one of the leading writers of the Victorian age, it’s never too late to learn another way of being to determine a new result.
It’s nothing short of a lie to tell yourself it’s too late for change or to really explore who you really are and what you truly want from life.
For many of you, I know and understand you may not know where to start with this conversation that is much needed with you and your REAL you.
The Inner Guru
If you look up the word Guru in the dictionary, you will find explanations such as master, teacher, pundit, sage etc. Traditionally in India, the Guru was approached to offer guidance, share wisdom and counsel to those who were seeking answers to some of life’s evasive questions. They were revered and held in awe, in a somewhat mysterious domain.
However, today, in modern times we are being taught that there is no need to look outside ourselves for such insights and discoveries. The inner guru resides within each one of us, ever present and ever intuitive.
The means to access this essence of self is achieved through meditation, where you learn to be still and silent for short periods to begin with and open up to a world of greater understanding, higher levels of awareness and improvements physically, psychologically and spiritually.
Meditation is Not Just For Hippies
Thankfully, meditation is more in the mainstream than ever before with so many high profile personalities sharing their experiences of the many benefits received as a result of a steadfast, disciplined practise of this ancient stress management, better relationship building, increased levels of happiness, awareness etc. etc. etc. tool!
We now know that CEO’s and President’s alike are advocates. The evidence is supported by science and the ripple effect is underway.
In no way am I dismissing the hippie population, some of whom I have wished to emulate at various stages of my own evolution, based on their comfort levels with living a simple existence which has been so alien to my own.
“Beware of your thoughts, for they will become your words,
Beware of your words, for they will become your actions.
Beware of your actions, for they will become your habits.
Beware of your habits, for they will become your destiny.” – Anon.
